On October, 22 our Volunteer Centre took part in EHRI Holocaust Research Seminar. For Ph.D. students from Ukraine, Moldova, Poland and USA we presented Jewish culture heritage projects carried out by the Centre.
International research seminar of the European Holocaust Research Infrastructure (EHRI) has been organized by NIOD Institute for War, Holocaust and Genocide Studies (Amsterdam) in cooperation with the Center for Holocaust Studies at the Institute for Contemporary History (Munich), and in partnership with the Center for Urban History of East Central Europe (Lviv).
During the 5-day seminar twenty Ph.D. students had a chance to talk to active volunteers working in Jewish heritage projects in Western Ukraine. During the previous 4 days the students found out about the possibility to learn in Ukraine the local and transnational history, as well as narratives and evidence about Holocaust and postwar judicial investigations. The students also worked with the scientists dealing with this area of research, such as Karel Berghoff, Senior Researcher at the NIOD Institute.
Along with such educational projects, EHRI informational portal provides online access to information and archival source material relating to the Holocaust from more then 2000 archival institutions across Europe and beyond.
